The Fördertopf is intended for foreign students who have to pay double tuition fees and have no way of getting them reimbursed by the university.
Students from Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Belarus are excluded from this funding, as long as these students are entitled to reimbursement of tuition fees by the university. Students who have surpassed the twelfth semester of their Bachelor's degree are excluded as well.

In order to be funded, the following requirements must be met:

Conditions:

  • A bank statement showing less than 1800 Euros.
  • The monthly earnings are less than or equal to 1.5 times the current marginal earnings limit.
    (Minimum earnings limit 2024: € 518,44; max. earnings € 777,66)
  • The monthly fixed costs (rent, operating costs, electricity, telephone, internet and insurance) should not exceed the amount of 650 euros.
  • In the past semester, courses worth at least 12 ECTS or 6 SWS were completed or a confirmation of good progress in the preparation of a scientific thesis (Bachelor, Diploma, Master or PhD thesis) can be proven.
  • Only complete applications with all required documents will be considered!

Required documents:

  • Application form (completely filled in)
  • A copy of your ID and a copy of your registration slip (Meldezettel)
  • A copy of your record of studies
  • Confirmation of registration for this and the past semester
  • Transcript of records
  • A printout of the tuition fee status for the past semester
  • Proof of income (if applicable) 
  • Proof of other support (if applicable)
  • A copy of all ongoing bank statements for the last 3 months with actual account balance!
  • A letter describing the reasons why you are applying for this ÖH grant.

The submission deadline for the winter semester is from October 1st to November 15th!
The submission deadline for the summer semester is from March 1st to April 15th!
In both cases, the application is for reimbursement of the tuition fees for the previous semester.
