Financial Aid

Students in Austria can apply for financial support. Here you will find an overview of the grants you can apply for.

Funding opportunities at HTU Graz

Canteen Stamp

The Mensa stamp is a support from the HTU Graz for all students with which a discount on menus is given in participating canteens. You can find more information on the HTU canteen stamp page.

Social Pot

All students who have financial problems can apply for financial support from the HTU Graz social pot under certain conditions. Further information and the application form can be found on the HTU Social Fund page.

Excursion funding Pot

If you have compulsory excursions as part of your studies and cannot afford them, you can apply for reimbursement of the costs. You can find detailed information on this on the HTU excursion funding page.

Canteen Aid

Under certain conditions, students at TU Graz receive a cafeteria allowance of 320 euros per semester. This is financed by the Province of Styria.

You can apply for the canteen subsidy via the Students' Union of Graz University of Technology (HTU). You can find more information and the application form on the HTU's canteen subsidy page.

Family Allowance

Under certain conditions, students are entitled to family allowance up to the age of 24 or 25.

Study Allowance

Under certain conditions, students are entitled to a state study grant in accordance with the Study Support Act.

Working and former working students can receive a self-employed scholarship or a graduation scholarship instead of the study grant.

Self-employed Scholarship

The self-employed scholarship is a special form of study grant. Students who have supported themselves financially by working for at least 48 months before or during their studies can apply for a self-employed scholarship.

Final degree Scholarship

The graduation grant is a special form of study grant. Working students who give up work in the final phase of their studies can apply for a graduation grant.

Housing Allowance

Students with no or low household income can apply for housing assistance from the Province of Styria.

You can calculate your expected entitlement to housing benefit using the housing benefit calculator from the Province of Styria (the calculator is only available in German).

Merit Scholarships

The merit scholarships at TU Graz are awarded to students with outstanding academic achievements. It is aimed at regular students who have completed at least two semesters. The requirements for receiving a study grant must be met, although social need is not decisive. The amount of the grant is between 750 and 1,500 euros per academic year. The requirements are a grade point average of less than 2.0 and at least 50 to 55 ECTS (depending on the faculty) in the last two semesters. In addition, the standard period of study must not be exceeded. The exact conditions and application deadlines vary depending on the faculty.
