Welcome to our website!

We are the Basisgruppe NAWI Physik (=BaGru) and are the student representation of all physics students in Graz.
On this website, you will find Study-related information to help you get started, as well as current events and notices.

Physics Degree Programme & Teaching

Do you need help putting together your schedule for the current semester? Or do you need important information about your studies? Then take a look at Physics Degree Programme & Teaching!

Here you will always find the current course dates for all semesters clearly listed in an Excel sheet. While every exercise group is listed for the bachelor's program, only the compulsory subjects will be listed for the Technical Physics master's program.

Bridge the Gap - Podcast

Do you still enjoy listening to podcasts in your free time? And do you want to learn something about physics while you're at it? Then the new season of the “Bridge the Gap” podcast is perfect for you😊

Two doctoral students, Tommaso Mazzocchi and Daniel Werner from the Institute for Theoretical and Computational Physics, have organized this for you.😁

To ensure that everyone has access to the podcast, it will be published on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

Official application text:
Curious about science or just here for a good story? This podcast brings research to life, breaking down complex topics into everyday language. Join us as we chat with real scientists about their cutting-edge work and the highs and lows of finding the balance between work and private life. Whether you are a science buff or a total beginner, tune in for insightful conversations, fascinating discoveries, and a glimpse into the world of research.

You would like to study physics in Graz? ...

... Then you've come to the right place to inform yourself about the program and everything else you need to know!

As a first source of information, we recommend taking a look at our sections: Get Started! and FAQ.

If you have any further questions, we will be happy to help you personally. Just send us a short, non-binding email (we're just physics students too ;)) with your question/problem. Depending on the scope, we will answer it right away by email or arrange a (digital) meeting with you.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Change to the Bachelor's degree program in Physics

Our bachelor's degree program will be changed in the 2021/22 winter semester!
Think this doesn't affect you? It does - it affects everyone who is currently enrolled in the bachelor's program!

What does this mean for you?!

  • The specializations will no longer exist; there will only be one large elective module.
  • Courses from the general and technical elective modules will be combined.
  • Differential equations and functional analysis will change (2nd/3rd semester).
  • Even if you remain in the old program, your courses will change.
  • STEOP will become STEOP Pool, making it more flexible.

If you would like to know how this will affect YOUR studies, you can find all the information you need under Studies/Curriculum Change.

Discord Server for Physics Students

BaGru offers a Discord server for all physics students in Graz!

Here you can chat with your fellow students about courses, spend time together in voice channels, play games, work through exercise sheets together, and laugh at the latest memes. Not sure what you're doing this weekend? Just take a look at the "General" category to find out which events or offers are currently trending.

We hope this provides you with a simple yet comprehensive platform and makes studying easier for all of us.
