Tasks:

• Entwicklung einer Berechnungsgrundlage oder eines Tools zur Analyse und Modellierung von chemischen Prozessen, um LCA für neue Materialien unter realistischen Produktionsbedingungen zu berechnen.
• Mithilfe von ML & Data mining (text mining, natural language processing) soll die effiziente Suche nach bestehenden Literaturdaten und die darauf basierte Entwicklung von Methoden für die Skalierung chemischer Prozesse von Labor zum industriellen Maßstab ermöglicht werden.
• Im Fokus stehen Energieverbrauch, Abfallbehandlung und die Übertragung von Labor- auf Produktionsmaßstab.

• Literature Review: Review centrifuge principles, particle settling in rotating
  systems, and existing separation models.
• Model Development: Develop a mathematical model for particle transport and
  separation based on centrifugal sedimentation.

Modeling the pH Distribution in a Cell-Culture Bio-Reactor (IPPT)

• Literature Review: Understand buffer systems and existing pH modeling
  approaches

  buffer equilibria and concentration fields.

Objective:

This thesis aims at assessing the needed framework towards recycling of APIs and consists of: 

• Analysis of the regulatory and legal framework for API recyling including the regulatory landscape of Austria (set by the AGES) and the EU (set by the EMA)
• Analysis and estimation of occurring APIs in waste streams, including the expected type and amount of materials together with industrial partners from our network
• Classification of these APIs according to their value, social importance as well as physicochemical properties to establish a recycling strategy
• Definition of target APIs with high potential to be successfully recycled and proposition of suitable process routes together with pharmeceutical engineering experts at RPCE
