FAQ for Initial Registration

 

Not everything in life has to be complicated. With the right preparation, your debut as a student will be a success. In the Following you find tips, for your head start into the daily life at campus.

 

HOW TO ENROLL INTO PROGRAMS?

WHAT ARE ECTS?

ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. These points are being granted for successfully concluding a lecture and/or passing its exam. For the bachelor degree 180 ECTS-Points in total are required, for the master degree 120 ECTS-Points.

 

These points represent the overall effort for a lecture, whereby 1 ECTS-point represents the scope of 25-30 studying hours.

 

HOW CAN I PREPARE MYSELF FOR THE STUDIES?

Mathematics represents furthermost the greatest hurdle in the debut. It is recommended to refresh already learned skills or at least to reach high school level. The TU Graz does provide courses for preparation for the lectures. These are “Mathe fit” and “Mathematik 0“. Both are recommended prior to lecture activity.

 

WHAT IS THE MENSA-STAMP AND HOW CAN I USE IT?

As soon as you have written yourself both name and matriculation number into the list at the Secretary of the Student’s Union, the Support for the Mensa-Stamp is unlocked and will be printed as a “M”- Mark on your StudentCard. With it you get a discount of 0,90 € a day for a menu in the following restaurants/cafés:

  • Mensen der Österreichischen Mensen Betriebsgesellschafts GmbH:
  • Uni Graz Mensa Marked, Sonnenfelsplatz 1 (adjacent to the Student’s Union building)
  • Mensa TU Graz, Inffeldgasse 10
  • TU Graz Mia and Masion Rooftop, Stremayrgasse 16
  • Mensa der katholischen Hochschulgemeinde Graz

 

I graduated from a Higher Technical Education Institute or a Technical College and want to take some lectures into account: To whom shall I state this request?

For Accreditations it is vital to contact the Dean of Chemical and Process engineering. Prepare a List of lectures of which you want to be accredited for and take with you your testimonies which states your knowledges.
