Frequently asked Questions

Here you’ll find frequently asked questions on a wide range of topics.

General

It’s simple! You can create a new HTU account via the HTU Account Manager (HAM for short). All you need to do is register via this LINK. Once the group manager has checked that your details are correct, they will activate your account, and from that point onwards, the following services will be available to you:

  • A Windows account for logging in to all available HTU PCs
  • A personal network drive and access to the HTU Cloud for storing your data
  • Your own HTU email address, which you can access HERE
  • Access to many HTU-internal printers
  • Access to our handbook: handbuch.htugraz.at

Furthermore, depending on your role, you will also gain access to

  • the TYPO3 backend of your student council or department to design the website
  • the email distribution list of your student council or department to manage it

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it HERE by entering your telephone number and username. Please note that resetting your password will affect all IT services provided by HTU.

In the HTU Cloud, shared drives sometimes need to be accepted manually. This can be found under ‘Shares’ > ‘Pending Shares’ in the left-hand menu bar.

Yes, this is possible both on your personal computer and on the HTU computers. For your personal computer, you’ll need to download the free ownCloud client first. Instructions on how to configure the client can be found in this guide.

Please send an email stating the room number and the name of a contact person on site.

The installation of new sockets will be carried out by GuT (Buildings and Technology), whilst the patching (connecting the sockets to our network) will be done by the ZID. Please allow for a waiting time of at least one month in both cases.

Calendar

You can synchronise your calendars via DAV. This works natively in Thunderbird; on Android, you’ll need the DAVx5 app. It's also possible to apply for a share-link via edv-support@htugraz.at.

Yes, these can be requested from IT Support. It is possible to set permissions for these calendars on a group-by-group basis (e.g. one group may have read-only access, whilst another may also have write access).
