Responsibilities of a Student Representatives Unit (StV)

The statutory responsibilities of a Student Representatives Unit (called study representation in the law) are set by the HSG 2014 and are as follows:

1.represent their members' interests and contribute to their advancement within the area of their competence;
2.nominate the student representatives to be delegated by the university student representation into the collegial bodies pursuant to § 25 para 8 subparas 1 to 3 UG in accordance with the statute, or at all other educational institutions in accordance with the applicable organisational provisions;
3.use the study representation’s budget;
4.give opinions on drafts of laws and decrees;
5.counsel applicants and students.

Resolutions

Resolutions passed by the Student Representatives Unit must include the following information in particular:

  • Name of the Student Representatives Unit
  • Text of the resolution
  • Place, date
  • Signatures of at least half of the elected members

Resolutions are required for:

  • Remuneration payment (signatures of all elected members required)
  • Appointment of team members (Sachbearbeiter*innen, SBs)
  • Request to change the name of the Student Representatives Unit

Reports

Student Representatives Units have the opportunity to present reports at regular University Council meetings. If possible, the report should be sent to the chair of the University Council two business days before the meeting.

At the end of each summer semester, an annual report on the activities of the Student Representatives Unit must be prepared and sent to the chair of the University Council.
